My only powder measurer is a 26 year old Lyman LE-1000 electronic powder measure, that still works well. At some point I will replace it, but before I do I would like to get a balance beam mechanical measurer. I don't know which one would be the best of the currently available ones like that can be ordered from Midway, etc. I know there is RCBS, Redding, Dillion, Lee, and others. Just wondering what everyone is using and/or would recommend. Thanks all.

I personally use and trust my rcbs m500 more than most digital scales. It's accurate and fast for weighing out charges once you get it properly zeroed and set up

I got a free LEE you can use if you wanna check it out. I just use my digital and test it after every few uses. Pick 2 test weights that you know are good, and test the digitial each time. I've only used the LEE a few times to weigh some projectiles that were too heavy for my digital.

    RCBS 10-10.
Had one for 35 years. Great scale. --- SAWMAN

I know those 10-10's are some of the best. Unfortunately they are no longer being made. Do you know of anyone who wants to get rid of one?

I've been using a Hornady (1984) for about as long as SAWMAN has been using his 10-10. I think any one of them taken care of are pretty much bomb proof and will last forever. I wouldn't hesitate on any named brand scale.

Ohaus made the 10-10 scale for RCBS , they made the same scale for several deferent company’s. The deference was just the color and the name on the scale.

I have two electronic scales and a powder thrower. Every now and then,I check them all with my 10-10. ---- SAWMAN

I use the RCBS 502 scale and it works well. I think it's discontinued now but they have a 505 model I believe.

If you do use reference wts, be wary of touching any brass wts with fingers. A forceps for any wts, especially metal. I mention that since many do not know that. A lot kids in science classes today are so used to transducer scales that they have no idea of how to do it right.
