I see these are the polymer stock ones . I wonder how much the wood stocked ones are$550 at the Fort Walton gun show. I saw 5 or 6 on tables and another one walking around.
Two were regular Paratroopers and a third Paratrooper walking around took AK mags. That one was $1,000

I'm on the hunt for a standard wooden stocked Paratrooper with an intact bayonet lug and bayonet.$550 at the Fort Walton gun show. I saw 5 or 6 on tables and another one walking around.

Chinese SKS Carbines are their own thing and are growing in popularity for collectors.Wow ! very interesting ! I did not collect the Norinco's , just the Tulas and 59-66 . !
Gotcha , as a collector I am kind of indifferent with most anything from that country . Just my personal opinion , no harm no foul .Chinese SKS Carbines are their own thing and are growing in popularity for collectors.
The machining that went to make an SKS is not cheap. The only reason why they were cheap was the collapse of the Iron Curtain and former ComBloc nations needed western hard currency. Those guns were paid for already and sitting in warehouses. So, they were sold for pennies on the dollar. The Chinese need hard currency too and sold theirs on the surplus market too.SKS should never, ever be more than $100.

Yeah and I remember when I could buy S&W revolvers new for under $300, unfortunately due to uncontrollable government spending and deliberate monetary destruction $600 is the new $100.Again, $100 max.
$100 can't buy a family a weeks of groceries or a month of gas these days, much less a good rifle.Again, $100 max.
They are good rifles for their time, and ammo used to be cheaper for 7.62 when they were blowing up ($2-3 for 20 rounds).I m being sincere when I say this. I see absolutely nothing appealing about the SKS. I guess taking in inflation, I would do like $300 max for one. Triggers suck, 3 MOA rifles, can’t mount scopes, no detachable mags, stocks are short bc commies are short, sights suck and cover up a man size target at 300 yards.
They were cool in 2003 when they $69 in a crate and mosins were $59. But once they went north of $200 I completely lost interest. No idea where people are coming up with prices or who’s crazy enough to buy them at those prices.

Sadly I don't think we will ever see surplus rifle prices drop below $300 again (I don't count the garbage RTI is selling for sub $300 atm, and even the "deals" there will be gone soon enough).
RTI has some "nice" Carcanos from Italy at ok prices (especially the sales), then a few goat shit filled warehouses of surplus from Ethiopia they have been bringing in. Mileage varies wildly. What is RTI selling? The only good surplus stuff I see selling “kind of cheap” are enfields. I see like 50s unsporterized enfields for like $500. Surplus is losing its appeal when they are selling north of $500-$600. Unless you’re into the history. If it’s a must have for the history then I kind of get it.
I think the appeal of the SKS, is they are becoming somewhat collectable.I m being sincere when I say this. I see absolutely nothing appealing about the SKS.
