    102_4271.jpg i have an action that seems to be mauser. but the ejector and bolt stop are not the same. it takes a mauser bolt and barrel.the only # on it is 1403 and it has some makers marks.any info would be great.thanks guys . the top 1 is a mauser 98.

    The milsurp on top has the thumb notch for easier stripper clip loading.



    The one on the bottom is a commercial mauser action. No thumb slot. Tough to say... Zastava possibly. You can tell it's not a Swede for a couple of reasons. 1. It doesn't have a thumb slot. 2. It's a 98 action and not a 96 (Swedes are 96's) The 96's are smaller.

    When I was PCSing from Germany, I had to get rid of one of my mauser sporters because of the thumb slot. The ATF could tell it was a milsurp and they wouldn't allow me to bring a modified milsurp rifle into the US.
