Their "viper" scopes are very nice. They are about double the cost. Hot days with mirage and higher magnification settings are where I have noticed a big difference with the two. Great reticle with enough holdovers to 600yds on smaller calibers and beyond that with larger calibers. A little dope on the inside of the rear flip up cap with masking tape works wonders with that reticle for wind and bullet drop compensation.

I have a Viper HS Gen I on one rifle and it is pretty good stuff. I have a Gen II unmounted that I intend to swap out with a Conquest. Both are SFP MOA

We have to agree to disagree, I'm a FFP Milrad Guy. So SFP applies to many restrictions for my style. Nowadays I need to print a bit larger, so instead of dope in the scope cap I keep a small log in the buttstock pouch. Time & Tides...

Waiting on a set of Feyachi fiber optic BUIS, before I R&R the scope on the AR with one of the Vortex Diamondbacks. EBR rings should work, but I'm contemplating ordering a pair of Warne QD rings. 4-16 might be a little to much magnification for 5.56 everywhere but the one way range? I'll provide a little GUNPORN when it's all said and done.

Well, I don't believe that the German or Japanese Glass Makers need to stay up late figuring out how to improve their products to meet Diamondback Optical Standards. But the Vortex Diamondback did perform well in the box test, so it seems to track well enough at least at the 200 yard KD Line. Time will tell how reliable the erectors remain. Currently retained the Badger EBR's, but I'm seriously considering ordering a set of Warne QD's to allow quick use of the Fiber Optic BUIS and make for an easy transition back to the NVS for duty after dark. So for the promised GUNPORN.

So the bottom line on the Vortex Diamondback was that it's overall length limits what rifles it will mount on. Rem 700 with Badger rail no problems. AR 15 the Diamondback 4-16 FFP needs more rail than is available on the receiver. So AR ended up like this, with the US Optics 3-12 FFP instead of the over length Vortex Diamondback 4-16 FFP.

I'm sure it's already been said but a cantilever mount with quick release would solve all your problems.

Perhaps a picture can better explain, but the 6 3/4 inches aft from the turrets to the ocular lens when coupled with 3+ inches of required eye relief is what creates the most trouble.

I haven’t had any experience with the Vortex Diamondback 4-16, but I do have the vortex viper pst 4-16x40 FFP and I couldn’t be happier with it. Great glass with no distortion, great turrets, good illumination, nice FOV. No problem mounting on an AR with a cantilever mount. If you are willing to go with the older reticle style and Milrad adjustments, EuroOptic has them for like $584 on clearance. I went with the moa version, and the newer eb7 reticle which is not on clearance, but the I think the clearance model would be great depending on your preferences. The diamondback is about half the price though, depends on your budget.

I shared a link of the exact product he is looking for but when you know all there is to know about everything, there is no room to learn
About that link? I did learn something. Don't waste good money on inferior products. The US Optic is smaller, lighter, with cleaner reticle, and has better optical clearity. Since there is only one AR in the locker why chase after a 4 inch extension mount just to force an inferior product to function? I'm sure I'll have a use for the Vortex with the EBR's on a Rem 700 at the 100 yard KD line. But i do like the options that the Warne QD's offer.

ADM also makes a good cantilever mount. The bottom scope is an 8” long tube, the shortest scope I own yet still needs a cantilever for a small frame

To sum this up, the good folks that suggested mating the Vortex Diamondback 4-16 FFP to .22LR or other short range (sub 200 yard) rifles effected by crosswinds are spot on. Even at the current low price point, this day scope is extremely limited in purpose, and has no purpose beyond the 200 yard KD line. For the money there are better options which don't require AR specific mounts, and I can't in good faith recommend that you mount this on your AR as it fails to excell at any of the multitude tasks performed by the 5.56/.223 platform. Since the optical clearity and parallax adjustments max out at the 200 yard KD Line, don't attempt to mate this day scope with any cartridge/rifle combo that is capable beyond that range or you will be disappointed. JMHO BOTTOM LINE.

You did notice the US Optic low mounted with Med Warne QD Rings photo?
