The what would stoner do project is a redesign of the AR to make a light wt highly accurate rifle with one piece lower and buttstock combined and also accurate pencil barrels.
Film describes some of the technical issues. Will not be offered in 80% lowers.
Highly technical relative to molds, injection, and polymers.

4.75 lbs. Shoots true, and runs. CF lower, faxon 16 inch pencil. About 150 rds thru it. Works when needed. I'll feel better when I get to 750 or so. Shooting 556.

I've seen these 1 piece lowers for sale. Cant get em. Cav15 ? used to make them, missed one about 2 years ago used, still bummed about it.

On the pencil barrel, how does it group as it warms up. The better pencil barrels are stress relieved so they hold there zeros better when they get hot.
The previous one piece lowers did not hold together very well is what I understand.
You certainly mistreated that poor snake for sure.

I haven't noticed much difference, been slow firing 10-15 rds then take break. Never got it to shimmer (visable heat waves) when looking down the sights. I'm betting the faxon barrel would just keep hitting the target. Took a page from the short barrel and installed a sound forwarder. You can shoot without plugs and not be deaf/ringing.

They are building these only $1600.00 rrrriiipppp! Using faxon barrel, hmmm like me!
They are now saying that " production " models will weigh over 5 lbs..? WTH?

Heres the lower. I would like one of these myself. Just for fun. Doubt it would be lighter than what I have now

KE-Arms will be selling the new one piece polymer lowers bare for 89 through Brownells, the unpopulated lowers were also briefly listed on their own site for 10 dollars more. Have a few on pre-order for my FFL.

I really have no desire for a light weight AR as a matter of practicality. I have no intent to hump across a desert and need a 3 or 4 pound (+-) lighter rifle in order to carry extra ammo or 1/2 gallon of water. If I need more "stuff" I'll just pack it. Weight normally equates to current/extended durability, balance and sustained accuracy that I am unwilling to sacrifice in order to reduce physical exertion to carry it. This has been true with my MSRs, big game rifles and shotguns. More than likely a result of my formative years. One might say "Lighten the Rod, spoil the child." Lol

I'm not knocking anyone's hobby, fun factor or range toy, different strokes applies. I have not seen anyone claim these "ultimate lightweights" would be their go to SHTF/EOTWAWKI or primary Bugout firearm, though there may well some, IDK.

Above are the musings of a dinosaur but they got me this far. Lol

I think the stripped lower by itself, weight savings aside, has some merit just in terms of simplification, eliminations of extra points of failure. You have now one piece that is usually made up of lower, buffer tube, end plate, castle nut, and grip.

Time will tell, but I think the Cav-15 was a solid idea, I'm happy that someone picked up the torch and is trying to make them again.

Took the irons off and installed SeeAll. Still under 4.7 lbs with unloaded 30rd. Up to about 400 rds, still chugging along. Shooting steel case banging steel silhouette at 300 all day.

I made the mistake of pre-ordering the FDE stripped lowers, and they are still not fulfilling those orders.

I did order some of the complete lowers in black earlier today. Will probably arrive in a week or so, those would be ~180 @ MAP. The stripped lowers on pre-order would be significantly less, but won't be coming any time soon.

How much does the complete lower set you have there weight in at? Would be interesting to compare to the listed weight of the complete KP-15 lower.

Edit: I see the LW-4 carbon fiber complete lower from them supposed to weigh in at 1.46 lbs from the factory. Which would actually be lighter than the 1.70 lbs the factory complete KP-15 lower would be.
