How do I fix this, and why the hell would they build it like this?? Appears they use heli coils in the sockets to hold the handguard together....wth??? Auburn engineers??

I have one of those, I'll look tonight to see if mines like that. The factory threads could have been stripped and someone repaired it already. Maybe by their design. I don't have facts on the handguard, but a stripped helicoil is not fun. Will it take a larger screw?

I could tap it, but the recess where the bolt head goes in is the size of the smaller bolt head. Trying to avoid a duct tape fix. Very nice handguard on my 6.8 pistol.

I have used button head Allen's instead of sae barrel style. Nobody will know. Think bare creek uppers. Little button heads. One size up would have a large enough head you wouldn't need a washer. I think it would look pretty good. Would be the method I'd do if it were mine
