I've started looking at BP rifles again to extend hunting opportunities. At one time in my life I hunted almost exclusively with bows and blackpowder and killed quite a few deer in "shotgun only" areas on military bases using BP.

I've noticed now that manufacturers are producing rifles with threaded barrels....I would guess that people want the oomph of 3 Pyrodex pellets without the recoil by using a brake?

    How about a supressor?

Trying to wrap my head around this....

Well, the fact you don't have to fill out a 4473 for anything black powder makes it not considered a "firearm".. so tax stamp is for what suppressor goes on a firearm..

    My gun,using 3,50gr,Trip 7 pellets could use a brake.
Problem could be finding a great/efficient 50cal brake. ---- SAWMAN

one of my encores now has a .45 cal muzzleloader barrel for shooting smokeless powder. This barrel has a muzzle brake that reduces felt recoil "significantly". This gun is shooting a 275g .451 copper jacketed bullet at 2550 fps. with 58grs of IMR4198. I would bet the muzzle brake could be opened up for .50 cal. guns. However if you are using sabots they may pose a problem if they hang in the brake. Mark.
