Steyr AUG suppressor gas plug??

So I want to get my Steyr AUG suppressed. Problem is, the suppressor gas plug are not only out of stock, but they appear to be a scarcity item. But I have heard of an interesting DIY solution.

Drill out the exhaust to the gas plug with a #40 drill bit, does that sound feasible?

Another thing I've heard is that if I just use a .30 caliber suppressor, it'll work without a gas plug being necessary.

Any input from y'all users?

I have heard of the drill out, but got lucky on the gas plug. I only had to wait about 30 days. Are you on the notify list?
