    From the press release …

TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (Dec.19, 2013) — Steyr Arms has announced that it will be fully operational in its newly acquired 33,000 sq./ft. headquarters complex in Bessemer, Ala., after the holiday break. A wholly owned subsidiary of Steyr Mannlicher and the sole importer of Steyr, Merkel and Anschutz sporting firearms, Steyr Arms has purchased its new U.S. home, and it will be fully functional in its new location on Jan. 2, 2014.

The new facility boasts 25,000 sq./ft of warehouse and manufacturing space, 5,000 sq./ft. of office space, a state-of-the-art firearms testing range and a spectacular 3,000 sq./ft. firearms showroom. This showroom will be the largest and most encompassing display of Steyr, Merkel and Anschutz firearms anywhere in the world.

“Our parent company, Steyr Mannlicher, has been searching relentlessly for a permanent American home for our brand and the brands of our importation partners since establishing Steyr Arms here in 2008,” said Scott O’Brien, Steyr Arms CEO. “As we near the 150th anniversary of Steyr Mannlicher in 2014, I can assure you that they truly recognize the importance of our American consumers, and not only do they understand the significance of our specific needs, they are working to meet them.

“We have a lot of great products that we will introduce in 2014 to celebrate our 150th anniversary, and quite frankly, our new offerings are truly going to take many by surprise,” continued O’Brien. “We have fast-tracked several lines, and we plan to bring some amazingly useful products to American consumers in 2014. We just ask that you please be patient as we move through the next couple of weeks.”

They were distributed in the US through Trussville in the past when the M and S series pistols first hit the market. It changed hands a couple of times, ending up in Mississippi for a time. Then, they left the US market for a bit - selling their entire inventory in the US to CDNN. That was when I picked up the 50 BMG HS-50 for $2995. Maybe they've got their act together and have a new presence in Bessemer and will market their wares effectively. However, the pistol sales will never put a dent into the market share held by their Austrian neighbors in Smyrna...

Of course, HK has been in Trussville for a few years now - so Bham has won a couple of manufacturers over it seems.
