Stevens 94 firing pin problem

Have a Stevens model 94 20guage the hammer falls but won’t engage the firing pin, and the pin moves freely back and forth. Supposed to be for the pops so if someone knows a fix or know a place that can take a look and knock it out real quick any help would be appreciated.

Probably just needs a new pin, I’ll call around some shops but if anyone has any leads that would be a big help

Have you tried shooting it?? If not, My old 94 if you don't pull the trigger all the way to the rear and lower the hammer it won't poke out. Grade A1 turkey gun! 2 3/4 full choke.

Does it have a hammer block safety like a H&R?

I think it’s probably fine, pin doesn’t look “broke” I took the stock off and cleaned everything. It looks like the hammer is falling all the way down now enough to make contact but still not making the pin poke out - I’ll shoot it tomorrow and update

Did try putting a piece of plastic over the pin and dropping the hammer fully cocked but it didn’t touch

Is the hammer spring weak ? Also, check the interior of the bolt for crud that could have built up and is not allowing the firing to go into position properly. There is a current ebay auction (#175387783199) that appears to be a stainless reproduction one that you may want to check out also. If it is not your exact one then I would inquire with them about one since they apparently make them.

Guns fine, took the pin out wiped it off, looked and measured fine. Put it back in and it works like it should. Must have just been dirty.
