You've got to hand it to our southwestern coyotes, when it comes to culinary variety, ours have a southwestern flair!
Was calling coyotes down near the Mexican border this morning and traveling down a dirt two track road for miles. Three different times I mentioned to my pard, that the coyote scat in the road seemed to contain red chiles, but we had not seen any chile fields along the way.
This scat pile was only hours old, and man was it bright red with digested red chile and seeds through and through. Depending upon the time of year, our coyote scat will early in fall contain all mesquite beans, then later, be nothing but digested grasshoppers. After the green chile comes off, and whats left dries it turns red, and man do they like to hit them hard.
