Prince Edward County, VA—A suspect in a Prince Edward County home invasion remains on the loose Monday, after police say a homeowner shot at three people, killing two of them, as they broke into his home Sunday.

Police responded to an emergency call, in which the caller stated that three individuals entered his home, armed with weapons. The called told police he exchanged gunfire with the suspects.

When police arrived, two suspects who had been shot were pronounced dead at the scene; the third suspect fled on foot.

The right lane of Route 460 east was closed Sunday afternoon, as Virginia State Police assist Prince Edward County officers in searching for the escaped suspect.

It is believed that the suspect, described only as a black male, got into a vehicle on Route 460.

The bodies of the two deceased suspects were transported to the medical examiner's office in Richmond for identification and cause of death.

THats great. I was telling a friend today that the sheriffs departments should take all the confiscated weapons and distribute them to the know law-abiding citizens in the crime infested communities and give them free safety and defensive training. Put it in the headline in the Newspaper. " Sheriffs Department Trains and Arms 1,000 Law Abiding Citizens in Brownsville"

DABREEZE i agree! hahahaha Why not? Criminals obtain guns illegally and commit crimes. Isn't it the job of our government to protect us? Why not arm us and give us proper training to protect ourselves. Honestly I will most likely probably call 911 if someone breaks into my house... Probably ... most likely... after... Funny thing is that if mainstream media posted news like this ... crime would inevitably be reduced. Criminals dont wanna be shot. They're naive! They think they can break into someones house and not get shot at hahahahahahahahaha gotta love um.

Cause of death......trespassing on the property of someone who chose NOT to be a victim. Amazing what holes in vital organs, and loss of blood will do
