How many of you use your SBR for home defense? If how does the work if someone come in your home and you shoot them. Do they hold your rifle forever or do you have to pay for another tax stamp. Or do the law give you a hard or the run around to get your rifle back.

If deemed justified, you will get it back... that being said, you know what's worse than not getting your gun back? Being dead...

Grab a weapon and drop the hammer.

Yea I don't sleep hard no more since I was younger. I just wanted to get a good idea before I deside to go SBR. Losing $200 and a rifle it's hard on a poor man

personally, I would go with a less expensive option, maybe a Winchester or Mossberg 8shot with a light on it, and a pistol too, but not a tax stamp gun...

Not as hard as being dead.
I'll gladly give up my two stamp rifle that sits next to the bed and then work some more for another one if need be; it beats the alternative.

ETA: the only SBR I would use would be suppressed, otherwise I might as well use a 16" gun.

I go with a coach gun - short, effective - point and shoot. Limited wall penetration as a concern. If I need more ammo grab my bedside 1911 but that requires more finesse.

In your home it should not matter, if you kill the perp then you will get the gun back quickly. If he goes to trial it may be held for evidence till the end. Either way you will get your gun back and your stamp is still good. I have an AR pistol for that so no tax stamp involved, also I am not trying to be quiet shooting since they are attacking me so I like all the noise, tends to scare and confuse the perp

I like Franks option. I go with an AR type of pistol with a stabilizing brace for home defense. If it's not suppressed, then it has the same benefits as the SBR without the costs and restrictions. But all suggestions I've read above, sound good to me.

AR pistol with a brace is a nifty little thing with no strings attached to the ATF.

If you go under 11", and don't suppress, use a linear comp or KX type MD. Otherwise, you might as well chew on a flash-bang.
I do believe a 556 is the ideal HD tool.

All sound good to me I'm have to flip coins to see what I want to do. If I was still single I'll have them all over the house ready to rock.

I just skimmed the post, but no, you wouldn't have to pay $200 again.
I had an SBR taken by PPD awhile back. It took a few weeks and some calls to a top NFA lawyer in Jacksonville but I got it back no problem. I'm still missing some ammo, a tourniquet and misc stuff. I am sure someone just pocketed it.
Im just glad I didnt have the can on it.

Ok that's answering questions more. I had a friend die in a motorcycle wreck it toke his family forever for the first police on the wreck to give it back. Lucky he had a cousin on the force, why do they do stuff like that and they the law.
