Is there a use for used satellite (Direct TV) dishes? I have one that was installed in Jan 2019, and we have since (This week) went back to cable TV. I would hate to just junk it, if there is a use and someone wants to come get it.

Cost would be your time to come get it, and nothing else!

I know you can make a killer death ray device out of them lol. You can use that to make a solar water heater or stove. Just glue tiny mirrors all over it. It will reflect all the light right to where the head is. Right at that focal point it will melt a padlock it gets so hot depending on thier sizes. Be careful tho when storing them. If you don't put a tarp over them they're known to burn down a shed if the sun hits them just right. It's one of the few good uses I've seen for them

Edit sorry I thought it was moved already, delete if needed

It has been move, I was just making a statement that it was moved for me, seeing I posted it in the wrong section.

I know some people use them as a wifi booster at their hunting cabins etc. Would rather see it go to someone on here for something like that, than for it to end up in the trash.

Besides free is a hard price to pass up!

    Video goes over four uses:

    Wi-Fi grabber
    HD TV signal booster
    Parabolic microphone
    Solar cooker

    Interesting options...

Seen them painted as “yard art” but alas I don’t have any painted. I do have a pair of them and thought they’d have a good use. I just haven’t found it yet.
