Ruger mini 14/30 red dot mount

Looking for information on best way to add a red dot optic to a mini 14.
It is a ranch model that has the grooves cut on the receiver.
I've read the reviews on the rail attachment, but would appreciate any input from the GFGF and what optic used?

To me the best mount for a red dot optic(especially the open red dots)is the mount from Weigand Combat handguns Inc. The one that I have unmounted is the silver model but I believe that they come in the blued "style" also. I got this one for my Mini-14 6.8SPC stainless but never installed it.

The package sez: "Fits Mini-14Ranch,Mini-30,PC9,PC-40,Deerfield Carbine. Uses Weaver style rings". Also on the pkg is:RANCH+ and a bar code of 383655 --- 050310 (bar code)
This unit fits on top of the reciever and locks in place with 4 screw that go into the milled slots in the Mini's receiver.

NOTE: When this mount goes on you cannot take your bolt out of the gun.
