    SOLD

Used condition Ruger model 77 in 35 Whelen. This rifle is in good condition, with only the slightest few tiny imperfections. Rifle has a few very small handling marks in the wood and a tiny spot of finish missing on the barrel, tang safety. Has a muzzle brake but I'm unsure if it is factory. . Bluing and wood on this rifle are very good for this 1990's made rifle. Bore is shiny with crisp rifling the entire length.

Didn't realize the 35 Whelen was based on the 3006 case until I looked it up. Does this one have a "last round hold open" mag follower? That is a beast of a bullet Screenshot_20210731-022308_Chrome.jpg

Is that a magazine floor plate release lever I see inside the front of the trigger guard?

Looking at this picture of the mag follower, it appears that yours does not have the "last round hold open" feature. That ramp on the rear of the hump is to let the bolt ride over it and "not hold open" when the mag is empty. I wonder if a milsurp 3006 follower could be made to work? The 35 Whelen case is based on the 3006 case.

Which scope mounts is this thing wearing? I like the engraved QD turrets. Very nice. Reminds me of the pre WW2 German k98 snipers QD turrets. Maybe a second rifle got into the pictures download on accident?

Looks like it, my 77 7x57 has that same feature.
Its a handy feature. About ten years ago I had a sporterized Argentine Mauser that had this rare feature. I got to fondle another Argentine Mauser, non sporterized, at the Hwy 90 Gulf Coast Guns outdoor gun show today. For a relatively rare rifle with a rare feature, it's like the third Argentine I've seen locally over the years. It makes this 35 Whelen all the more attractive. I just gotta find the time for a trip south

Reading through Ruger history and user guide. The last round feature is not part of this Ruger 77. The rings I’m not sure since I bought it with optics already mounted I believe the muzzle brake is after market too... One thing I do know its a pig killer It was my go to firearm hunting hogs in the Ocmulgee swamps.

You are correct regarding the muzzle brake. The openings were drilled into the factory barrel/front sight band.

Could probably wack an elephant with a 35 Whelen, nevermind a pig! I'm in negotiations with the wife for a road trip south. Won't be for at least a few weeks, though. If you still have this, I'll swing by and take a look. I currently have a .32/8mm Mauser and it likes 200 grain spitzers. I love the heavy hitters. One and done, yessir. But I dont really want to sporterize my 95% condition postwar Mauser. Not when I could buy yours already wearing a scope. How easy would it be to install see thru bases? I would like to retain use of the irons for up close work. Some day, I'll do this...

I believe Weaver makes a set of see-through mounts.. As part of my firearm liquidation is the fact I'm moving to North Port in the next couple months. You'll need to stop at the Hot Mineral Springs there
