I don't know about the original, but I have the XP100 Varminter in .223 with a Simmons Gold Medal pistol scope and it's awesome. I reload and use 40 gr V-Max and extremely accurate.

How they shoot and what's a good price on them. Then is ammo hard to get?

As far as accuracy goes I have some high-end Sako rifles and this pistol will shoot just as good a Group at 100 yards. Prices run between $700 and $1,500 depending on condition and accessories that come with it. As far as ammo goes it's no more scarce than anything else. It is a very popular caliber and there will always be a supply under normal conditions. If you're shooting past 150 yd you may want to consider the 14 inch barrel it gives you a little more velocity for the longer ranges. These guns are extremely accurate they deserve at least a 3 by 9 scope one of mine has a 4 by 12 if you can see it and you do your part you will hit it.

How do they shoot ? With good glass, MOA at 100 yds. and close to that , all depends on how good the shooter is at "doping the wind and shooting a pistol from the bench.
Factory 221 FB ammo will be hard to find. If you reload, brass might be found, and it can be formed from 223 brass, but it's a PITA.
    $$$$ ? I've seen them listed for $ 1000.00 +
The original ones are considered by some a "collectors item"
Beauty {$$$$$} is in the eye of the beholder.

    Why do you ask ?
What would your intended use be ?
There may be less expensive means to meet your purposes.

I also have Thompson contenders in 222 Remington and 223 but I do not enjoy shooting those calibers in a pistol as much as I do the 221 Fireball.
