It is In fair shape. Not beat up just aged. The 11-48 seems to be the same gun other than the dimples in the mag tube. Wondering a fair price for it. Don't want to over spend.
Further searching it looks like the 48 is a stolen and improved A5 design. Has me even more interested, but are service parts hard to find? Numrich looks like 50/50 on parts in stock.
Any input is appreciated.
I have several of the Sportsman 48 and the 11-48 and they are good shotguns. The 48 has the dimples in the mag tube to limit the mag to 2 rounds plus 1 in the chamber for bird hunting hence the name Sportsman. The 11-48 is the same gun with no dimples in the mag tube, Both are Browning A-5 designs copyrighted by Remington for their model 11. In 1948 Remington took the humpback and changed it to a rounded rear receiver but the action works the same. There are lots of parts available on line but they are very robust and don't require a lot of maintenance. Now the values are all over the place with the internet but $200.00 for a beater and up to $400.00 would be fair. What's crazy is that just a few years ago you could get a pretty one just about anywhere for $200.00. Sorry for the long reply and good luck with the purchase.
