found this: "The U.S. Navy facility at China Lake that manufactured the originals gave the duckbill choke its characteristic wedge shaped cut by using a side-milling cutter. This led to stress cracks at the bottom radius causing the unit to slowly open up under heavy use. Great Lakes Arsenal has solved this problem by making their cuts with a modern wire-EDM machine."

After processing it I have concluded that there may be issue with that on the double barrel. However, it is a really interesting idea.

Interesting , the part about the original "opening up" after heavy ? use. And,This thing really does exactly what it is supposed to do.” The pattern, with all shot, from #7 bird shot all the way to 000Buck, was compressed to a horizontal pattern of at least a 4:1 ratio. We found that if fired once holding it horizontally, and then once with the same point of aim, but held on it’s side, the shot pattern would be of a perfect “X”.
So, on a DB, do one on each BBl. or just one "duckbill" on each Bbl ?

I would think one on each barrel. Might be an interesting party crasher project.

@SAWMAN was pondering this last year, perhaps he has come up with something?
I would think you could hammer the barrels into an oblong shape.

The duckbills were NEVER DESIGNED to shoot a heavy pattern/ load of buckshot. Especially any of the higher pressure (11,500+) stuff.
Our flachette loads were of the lower pressure variety. If too fast, they would disdurse too quickly with huge holes/gaps in the pattern.
IMO - -> a double DB would not work.
Our "normal" shots with this or #6 shot would be 25yds MAX. Mostly <10yds.

Thanks Bill. I wasn't sure if the double would work. Would have been fun though.
