Sunday on bow watch. Bored. Anti darwin device installed. Had a mate last year on another ship stick his head out the window while dropping the anchor. Big sheet of ice fell off the bow and broke his neck. Killed him. So this. Used to just have the warning, now a bar across it. Makes for problems when sending out the bow line. You can't see the deckhand.
I've asked to be able to remove it during the summer months. Haven't heard back yet.

Got 84 hours last week, crap. Headed towards another. Man, I'm beat. On the brightside I'm using some $$ to build a cool G26.

On holiday pay, gonna hit 15 (max) Had one of generators fail the other night. Dark and dirty. Pulled in tried to get parts, unit is 40 years old, no parts.
They tried fixing it, no luck. Got permission from the USCG to get underway. Getting ready to rinse the whole boat. Had a tug to help get us out of the harbor. Getting a full day of being paid like officers!!

Damm bugs!! Some kind of stinky moth. Luckly they don't bite just crawl around on you. Unloading coal and waiting for the CAT repairmen to get the generator fixed.

They are +$85 a carton in Duluth,MN. Thanks Yankees! I don't know how they afford em. That's 2 cartons in alabama.
