I just ordered a Ruger Mark IV online, and it’s supposed to arrive later this week. I plan to shoot with the stock sights at first, but I know that before too long I’ll want to put an optic on it. I don’t want anything too big; I really don’t like the look or feel of a big scope or full-sized red dot on a pistol. I’m thinking a small (micro) reflex sight is the way to go. And I’m trying to keep it around $200–maybe $250ish.

Anyone have any suggestions or advice based on personal experience with a micro pistol optic at or around that price point? And if you have personal experience with an optic on a Ruger Mark in particular, all the better.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanx.

I have a Vortex crossfire II on mine. I paid 149

I was looking at the Venom, but that and the mount would have been closer to 350

I decided to spring for extra Mags instead.

I've used a Burris Fastfire III on a Ruger MK III and it worked perfect. Very light weight. Easy to use. I actually prefer a tube type sight, but I will try the FF III on a different gun to see how it works out.

Thanx for the suggestions, guys. I’m leaning more toward a reflex sight, so I don’t think the crossfire will work for me. I’ve read some good things about the Fastfire III, though, so that’s a possibility. (Fanner: I appreciate the offer to buy yours. It’s a more than fair price, but I got a $250 gift card at Amazon that I plan to use so I won’t be out of pocket. But thanks).

I’m also looking at the Vortex Venom, Romeo Zero, and the Sightmark Mini Shot M-Spec. Anyone have any personal experience with them?

I have the Venom on my 10/22 - love the sight.

I didn't want to move it to my pistol because I don't know when Ill have time to go out and re-sight in my guns. :)

I have two Mk III's I have a swift scope on one of them as it is more accurate than a red dot. I have a Burris Fastfire III i put on my other one sometimes. It is not always on there. I use it on Armadillos and other feral critters around the house. Supressed.

    Sorry for the repeated pics.
I put the fastfireIII on the blued gun when I take it to the range.
    Works very well.

It may look big, but that Swift Scope on the stainless gun is Hyper accurate.

All this talk about the FastFire III has made me decide to keep mine and put it on my 1994 vintage 10/22. You can't tell by the picture, but it has a Volquartsen Carbon Fiber barrel and Volquartsen 2000 trigger group in it, along with other upgrades. The only thing cheap about it is the Butler Creek stock, which I really like because it is so light weight.

I have a Vortex Venom that I traded into on a Ruger Mark II. It's identical to a Burris Fastfire that relatives have.

    Plenty of options out there.

Very small open red dot (reflex) sight. Green would be better. With 2 MOA. 3 at the biggest. --- SAWMAN
SAWMAN...please check out my 1:30pm post above. I modified it with a picture, one you haven't seen. I think you mentioned a Volquartsen Carbon Fiber barrel on one of your 10-22's? That is what this one has on it.

I currently have a 3-9X40 Leupold on my V outfitted 10/22. It was used for head shooting grouse out of the beechnut trees and highbush cranberry bushes in the winter time.
It will shoot in a quarter at 40yds. --- SAWMAN

I have a Leupold 2-7X Rimfire scope that I put on mine sometimes, mounted with Burris rings. It's a very accurate combination. Love it!
