I've went the subcompact route quite a few times and they do have their place, it's just not for me given the type of holsters and carry options today.

I went back and both a few times myself and even bought my Glock 42 380 back. But after carrying the VP9 in the new hostler the past couple of days, I decided to go back to full size and 9mm.

As I have said a few times, the grip on the VP9 is superb and I shoot great with it. I also agree the compacts have their place and I did like the Glock 42, but it was time to consolidate to one caliber and I choose 9mm.

Holsters..... most are fine for going to the mall, casino or lounging around the house. When you start doing stuff, connecting a bushog, chopping brush, getting in and out of a vehicle, building a roof, sweaty, hot, mowing. Etc.
The issues will appear. Shoulder or chest rig for me. Crossdraw belt holster on occasion. YMMV.

I carried the PPK/S for decades, finally replaced it with the same size Hellcat in 9mm. Couldn't be happier. But the manual safety on the Hellcat is a little smaller. Miami Rig during cool weather, behind the back inside the shorts during warm weather. Love that Huge Front Night Sight for CQB. Don't need any bells and whistles, but it is capable of an RDS if you foolishly desire. JMHO. KISS.

When it come to holsters, there is not perfect holster, period. That’s typically why folks who daily carry have a couple they switch between depending on the season and other variables.

Here in Florida where I wear shorts the majority of the time and I tee shirt, I primarily use a IWB holster with a nice thick belt and it works well for me.

Took my SIG P365-380 to the range today for offhand shooting at a paper man-size torso target, shooting at the head and a few shots to the neck after the head was full of holes. Previous shooting had been off a rest (testing ammo) with the point of impact at 12yd tending to be about a half inch low (some loads lower; some higher, some right on). I was pleasantly surprised to find all ammo (4 types) was essentially on at 12yd. Speculation: Pistol was free to recoil more shooting offhand so that raised the impact point a little. Out of 59 shots fired, only one missed the target, and it was a lead bullet reload that I'd been given which had proven not very accurate in my other 380's that I was shooting up to get the brass. Factory hollow point self defense hit right on. Happy owner.

I know several folks who carry the Sig P365 and love it, the only reason I went to all 9mm is the availability of ammo where I located and the price.

After carrying my HK VP9 the last couple of days, I don’t mind the extra weight and size compared to my Glock 42. The new hybrid IWB holster I bought made the difference.

It's all about holster, belt, and dress. Part of it is also "getting used to" it. Carrying a compact (G19) or fullsize (G17) size weapon isn't an issue, especially fall / winter / spring. It can be done in the summer but a subcompact is easier or if lazy AF going to pocket carry with a pocket gun.

I decided just to start carrying my HK VP9 as my everyday carry and sold my Glock 42 subcompact. I use a hybrid IWB holster rig which conceals well and also fits me being a big guy pretty good.

I traded one of my full size H&K VP9’s today for a nice used HK VP9SK with night sights and 4 mags. Now I have a compact 9mm carry version of one of my favorite 9mm pistols.
