    I recently purchased this rifle and have no idea what the markings are. No idea fo make or caliber. Please help!

    You dont. A certified gunsmith will. Get it on gunsmith company letterhead paper. Nobody will believe you otherwise

    A smith might want to stamp the caliber on the receiver or barrel. If it's not already been Bubba'd, dont let him do it. Are you sure theres not any import marks saying the caliber? Up by the front sight, maybe even inside the receiver or under a handguard?

    Has it been sporterized???

    I have been tracking a Siamese Mauser in 45/70 for some time.. Seems no one that converted these left the stock alone and insisted on sporterizing the stock. Really its to the point I think it would be a good ideal to take a non converted Siamese to a gun smith and have him convert it..

    Alternatively, you can buy a Kit to make a Chamber casting, then measure the casting and compare it to cartridge specs.
