Love the old break action S&W revolvers. From a site I found looks like possibly a Model Number 2, .38 S&W double action, 3rd issue.

Site I found it on has serial number and date info. http://www.american-firearms.com/am.../company-S/Smith & Wesson/Smith & Wesson.html

I do not have a book of value, but once the model is confirmed by serial you can find comps by web searching. Start up a conversation with me if you need more help in your search.

Thanks, BTW the serial number is 481580. Any idea of the sage? I'm thinking early 1920's.

    Peace, Love and Rock"n Roll!

That serial, from the information in the link above, would make it a 4th Issue manufactured from 1895 - 1909. S&W still does letters if you send them $50.

Ignore the online line about 6 months behind, I got one quicker signed by long time S&W historian when I was researching my S&W New Model 3.

38 DA 4th Model . Unfortunately gun has been refinished as factory nickle guns had blued trigger guard . No collector value as such . I'd rate it as fair shooter grade , assuming it's mechanically good , any issues would of course affect price . IMHO it might bring $ 75 from someone who wants it .
