    Excellent work Sir.

I just found a good load for my TAC 30 chambered AR15... ignore the COAL number, had an old person's moment.

Sierra 125gr Tipped Game King with AA2200 powder. Basically it's a 6.8 SPC run in a .30 Herrett die and trimmed.

That there is an interesting chambering sir.
I am still looking hard at the 300HMR myself. Just got the itch for something "different" to me. Don't really need more power and do not want to unnecessarily beat up my thermal.
Still trying to narrow down the platform that I will use. Semi auto is kinda nice for those hogs that just gotta take that one last look before disappearing into the woods.
Have you tried lighter bullets for that chambering ?? Specifically the Barnes 110's ?? What speeds are you getting with the 125's outta how much bbl ?? --- SAWMAN

When I started shooting 300 blk out I was pleasantly surprised how accurate they are. One of my favorite calibers.

Hornady 110 grain VMax shoots to the same point of impact in my CZ blk as the Barnes 110 blk bullets. I use them for target practice, as they cost less than half of what the Barns cost. This group is at 100 yards.

I've not checked the speed on these as of yet, I just got the build together and was developing a load that would 1) function 100% and 2) give acceptable hunting accuracy at 100 yards, which for me, would be 1.5" or less. This certainly isn't a 300 yard cartridge so I'd probably accept 1.75" if it's consistent. I will limit my shots with this rifle to under 200 yards... kind of a semi-auto .30-30+P LOL.

Seems the popular powder is AA1680 but I was blowing primers at a popular suggested load of 30.0grs... albeit I was using a different style 125gr bullet, my error and I know better. Due to shortages I tried to cut the corner...

Previously with a very similar, if not the same, chambering in .30 HRT I was getting 2500 FPS with the 125's and at that speed was starting to see the start of pressure signs... this barrel is 3R so I don't believe I'll see pressure signs that early. I expect to get close to 2600 FPS... just don't know yet.

I've settled on AA2200 and the Sierra 125gr Tipped Game King... seems accurate enough for my needs and I'm sure it's over 2500 FPS at this point.

The rifle sports a 16" mid-length gas. Shoots soft, should be just fine on the thermal if I ever decide to use it for such. Converting the brass isn't difficult but takes a little effort so I probably won't be cutting lose on packs of hogs lol.

I have not tried 110gr bullets... I bet they would be quite fast.

    Agreed with all your above.
Barnes makes several different .308" 110's. Of course the black tips (30321) are designed expressly for the 300BLK but have had great success using the others in 308Win bolt guns using a severely reduced charge of H4895( usually 60% of max listed,as per Hodgdon). They open adaquately at 2600-2700fps with a 10 twist bbl.
All in all - -> I could accomplish the same thing ( bullet diameter + bullet weight + bullet speed) ,using my 308Win chambered bolt guns. Thinking on it,wish I had a 308Win chambered gun with 1:8 twist. I'd call it my 300BLK +P+. ( EA Brown Co offers these in the Encore bbl)
Great shootin' in the above gentlemen. The 300BLK is surprisingly accurate out of most guns. I have a NEF Handi Rifle (AAC Edition) that will shoot almost as good as my RARR. Of course the 3lb 7oz trigger and floated bbl really help. ---- SAWMAN

I do love me some Hornady 110 V-Max out of the .308 Win.

We use to issue Military owned M14's as patrol rifles, our issued duty ammo back then was the Hornady 110gr TAP.

Not only have I watched a live demo by Hornady of that round in ballistic gel, I've also used it on coyote and hogs... extremely deadly and no pass throughs.

I've successfully duplicated the TAP load using the 110gr Z-Max and several of my Aero M5 rifles shoot it MOA and better.

I'm sure when the reloading supply issues settle down I'll try the 110's in the TAC 30.

Got my TAC 30 build updated... swapped out an older .30 HRT barrel for a TAC 30 barrel, marked 30 HERRETT. It's a 6.8SPC run in a 30 Herrett die and trimmed to length. .30-30 Win velocity and hotter potential. I'd say a 150 yard and in rifle. Just something to mess with.

Shooting 125gr Sierra Game Kings at about 2350 FPS. Three shot group after scope adjustment.

Hey SAWMAN why is the group so far off the cold bore shot?

Tight groups off target are nothing more than preordained failures in my experience!

Tight Groups OFF TARGET are nothing more than missed opportunities in my World. Please explain those failures..... To American Family Members. JMO.

What have you done to make that first round count at extreme distance, or how many failed shoots are you going to discharge in your failed effort???????

One actual round on target is better than thousands of rounds near the target. JMHO.

Yup I'm that guy, now explain to an American Family why thier Son/Daughter under your command ain't coming HOME.
