I recently acquired a 500 in trade, I've never owned a Mossberg before. I like the gun for what it is, it is used, but nodded the way I'd wanna mod. However, I just can't get over how loose the fore end is. The fore end, the front grip, and the "arms" seemingly supporting it all, there's too much play.

So before I get all backyard mechanic and try to jerry rig something and probably break it, does anyone know a fix? Can I take it to a shop and have them tighten it up?

    All help appreciated.

Fix what? Not suppose to be twisting the forearm. The whole assy is guided by the link bars on each side....that's all.
Its a 500!....mine is so loose and broken in that it is almost an auto loader! That is just the way you want a weapon like that.:boink:
Seriously though....the foreward pistol grip really gives you too much lateral leverage for the design. An alternate solution would be just attaching a loop of webbing to an original style fore grip.
    Good luck.
Here is one with a grip like I'm talking about.

Like he said, lose the forward pistol grip. I tried one once on an 870. If you get in a hurry you can bind up the action with the lateral force.
