Damn! That's got to be a thrill to even get that shot...let alone make it!
Kind of strange though.....hunter was not camoflogued ....just on a freshly build wooden platform in street clothes!
I haven't warn camo since I was a kid unless its crazy cold. I'm not a fan of "spear hunting" seems like a very irresponsible way to Injure an animal and not kill it
LOL same as I feel about bow hunting. Not you experienced guys but the people who buy a bow shoot 5 arrows and go hunting...too many of them. I like quick, clean, ethical kills.
Frank I have still hunted deer since 1967, I bought my first bow this year practiced for a week and dropped a 185 lb buck with my first bolt.
I too like a clean ethical kill - I can't remember taking more than 1 shot or ever not harvesting what I pulled the trigger on. I think it is a matter of your ability to hit what you are aiming at - regardless of the weapon used. Once you have that confidence and ability it is a matter of good judgment as to weather or not to 'pull the trigger'.
No question on the luck - having him at my feeder that morning was my luck - he normally showed up after mid-night. Shot - not so much - crossbow was zeroed at 20, 30 and 40 yds and he was at 20 when I took the shot. Crossbow is so much easier than a compound bow. Double lung - heart - ran maybe 30 yds and crashed.
