Pondering M80, M852, or M118LR use? Since the added precision of NM iron sights is no longer a benefit for these Old Eyes, perhaps the Tritium CQB iron sights on the SOCOM 16 would be of greater benefit. Either way the primary day scope is going to be the Burris Scout Scope with QD Warne rings. The barrel threading & angle of the SOCOM 16 are not the standard for all other M1As, due to the proprietary muzzle brake/ front sight combo. Would you purchase the Scout Squad and just convert the NM to Tritium, or just purchase the SOCOM 16 with it's proprietary muzzle brake/sight combo?

While it may be a bit more to modify the Scout Squad, the commonality of parts with every other M1A appeals to me over the long haul. Add to that military use of the 18 inch barrel and replacements should be around longer. Springfield is currently offering two models with the lightweight synthetic stock. Does anyone know what cerakote is applied to the NBS two tone? https://www.springfield-armory.com/...1a-scout-squad-308-rifle-two-tone-desert-fde/
