NorthEscambia nor ECSO reached out to ERGC for information.

ERGC’s safety committee evaluated the plate rack that was being used. The shooter was not engaging in any unsafe manner and the steel target was at an appropriate distance. The ammunition is not believed to be a factor.

Shooting steel targets occasionally results in splatter.

Well, last night was a wild ride. By the grace of God, I’m still here today and I know He has a purpose on my life. I survived a freak accident gun shot from a 7.62x39 hitting me in the back and coming out the front of my right shoulder, missing my artery and lung by a hair. I’ll meet with a orthopedic specialist tomorrow to figure out how surgery is going to piece together my shattered acromion bone and surrounding soft tissue/muscle! It’s going to be a long road to recovery but I am just thankful to be alive.

    My add:
Pic showed him, arm in a sling and eating w a friend, lots of surgeries ahead. His wife is having their baby Dec 1 this year, he will be a lucky man to still be here! The link above is Facebook if you have it, the video is where he gets shot and you can hear the shot and him being hit

A frag incident made the news? May I suggest taking a shooting buddy on the next range visit? Someone to pat you on the back and let you know everything will be ok.

If only I had contacted the news everytime some spalling splashed back and hit me I'd be famous. Wear eye pro, ballistic preferred and you will be OK.
I’ve pulled several copper jackets out of my skin. The worst was on my face near my eye. That’s why you need eye protection.

There was a hog hunter at night with a group and thermals just shot in the back, he will make it with several surgeries, they were even filming when he was hit..7.62x39
I have posted here about avoiding situations like this several times. No way I'd ever go night hunting with a group. Ever. A bunch of trigger happy half blind wannabes that are letting it rip with semiautos on running targets. No sir, I prefer to live

Yep me too, with jackets. I also once had an ejected 22lr case make it up and over my eye pro and get held in place on my lower eyelid by my eye pro. Would have bounced off harmlessly had I not been wearing any. Win some, lose some

Everybody should consider going down to State Farm or wherever else they sell "Hospital Income Policies" . These cost like $5-$10 a month and will pay you $300 a day for every day you're in the hospital or ER. Most serious outdoormen find themselves in the ER for whatever reason at least once every other year or so, so the policy pays for itself. But on the off chance something really bad happens, you won't lose your house or retirement savings. You might even make a chunk of change. After I totalled my Harley I found out that $10 a month policy will also pay me $150 per physical therapy visit and orthopedic visit :) not bad for $10 a month
