Let's have a conversation concerning PCC (pistol caliber carbine)/PDW (personal defense weapon?).

I am interested in a short barreled (4.5-7") 9mm PCC/pdw. AR configuration or AR style controls is a bonus but realizing there are many other wonderful options available. I'm less interested in carbine style and moreso looking for compact pdw style firearms.

I've seen the Foxtrot Mike setup, the FX9, etc in AR style controls. I also like the idea of the CZ scorpion micro and the Sig mpx although those expand the budget significantly to get into the ballgame.

I guess I just would like to open conversation of other options as well as pros and cons of each application.

I have approx 11 months to receive my suppressor and wanna get started moving in that direction of a PDW style firearm.

Blowback are cheap and proven. They don't shoot as nice as some other options.

AR style are easy to customize and come in tons of flavors. I'm not a glock guy. The glock mags work and they're ubiquitous. I don't think a single feed pistol magazine is the best option to feed a PCC but I also don't think it's ever going to be an issue for me or 99% of the people out there. Colt mags work and can be found cheap. I think the CZ/AKv mags are going to be a more popular option shortly. MP5 mags are an (expensive) option too.

Scorpion is a little more expensive but it's cool. There's a lot of plastic. If you don't care and are interested in spending a little more, definitely worth a look.

I'm a big fan of the MPX but it has plenty of down sides. Cost for the gun, mags are expensive on top of an expensive gun and Sig has had 3ish iterations of the platform that don't all play nice together. It shoots great and I prefer it over the AR and scorpion options. You used to be able to find used ones fairly inexpensive but the last few months the MPX market has gone nuts. I heard rumor of a third party poly mag with metal feed lips coming but not counting on it.

There are plenty of other options out there. All the ones I've tried have at the least been fun to shoot.

If I'm carrying the bulk of a carbine, it no going to be in a pistol caliber. I have been looking for a pistol caliber PDW (braced pistol). I currently have a Sig P556 SWAT (no brace) in that role. It's. 5.56, AR controls, adj. gas piston, 10.5 barrel and 21 inches OAL.

My son just ordered a Sig MPX-K, ETA mid may. Here is the data dump I sent him:

    Sig MPX-K is 9mm https://www.sigsauer.com/store/sig-mpx-k.html
    Sig Copperhead is 9mm. https://www.sigsauer.com/store/sig-mpx-copperhead.html

Just released Ruger PC Charger, brace ready with railed rear. https://ruger.com/products/pcCharger/models.html

This is the Configuration I like best but it hasn't been avail for awhile. Note the "parts" may(?) Return in the supply chain.
Second Choice Folder with Tailhook Note: this type brace and Tailhook were aluminum (my pref), now both are also made from Poly: both had good reviews but know what you $ is buying.

Take a look at the SPORTSMAN'S GUIDE site. In my flyer they had several for $350'ish. Only 9mm and 45ACP I believe.
I will take a look and let you know more when home from the range.
I would suggest that you buy/build a gun of at least 10-12 inches of bbl for several different reasons. For me it would probably be a MechTech Glock upper with the bbl chopped to 12 inches. And of course . . chambered in either 10mm or 357Sig (got those already). --- SAWMAN
ADDED: MY BAD - -> It is in the Sportsman's Guide Catalog (UPDATED POST)

Here, with magwell adaptor. Runs great and is suprisingly accurate.
