Are wolf primers ok to use
I have never used them. I think that many have. I have used CCI primers for almost 50 years and have never had an issue or a failure to fire. Do you already have Wolf primers or are you needing some lg rifle primers? If you are in need, how many do you want? I have some that i would be able to help you with.

I know some years ago we used Wolf ammo for training and had occasional duds.

I also remember being able to get Wolf primers some years back during a primer shortage and some guys on ARFCOM were reporting occasional duds as well. Most likely Small Rifle but I don't fully remember.

I have 2K of .223 loaded with Wolf from those days in my stash I've yet to fire... the possibility of duds in that ammo have been on my mind because of the previous experiences.

A “problem” with Wolf/Tula primers is that you have to know EXACTLY what you have in order to know how to best use it. Over the years the nomenclature on the boxes of 100 and 1000 sold in the U.S. has differed such as Magnum, 223, 223 Remington, 556, standard, etc, etc but the factory Part number would sometimes remain the same, meaning the primer was the same inside. Thus some users would have great results in their use and other users would say the primers suck. The factory part number was only put on the side of the sleeve of the package that contain 5 bricks of primers. The Russian factory has an Internet page listing all the part numbers and what they mean. Look up Muron Apparatus Producing Plant for their current primer part numbers.

I feel Wolf/Tula changed the box nomenclature over time for sales and not to help American reloaders...my opinion. Factory part numbers for small rifle included KVB223, KVB223M, KVB223EM, KVB556M. Might be others too over the years.

KVB223 might have pierced primers in higher pressure cartridges and don’t light off rifle speed ball powders consistently. KVB223EM gave extreme velocity spreads, failures to light ball powders, and inaccuracy in some applications. I know based on personal experience. EM’s were their attempt at a lead free primer. I bought a bunch when they were discontinued, thinking I got a bargain. Finally found they worked fine with a light charge of IMR4895 shooting frangible 223 bullets and used them for that and 9mm subgun ammo.

I like them, just gotta know how they need to be used.
