Well, I just came back from the Ft. Walton gun show and some things have become very apparent! For one thing, the tables were full of ammo, dozens of tables! Not just a few packs of ammo, but tables full of ammo. You wonder where the ammo is? Well, there is a "group of people" who are buying TONS of ammo and then trying to sell it to us "brethren" for astronomical sums of money. LIKE $2.00 a round for 9 mm!? Some a little better, sum a whole lot worse! Secondly, "strange new brands / manufacturers" of firearms are showing up! Are they bonafide? Certified? Mil-spec.? Who knows! "Things" certainly are changing....Over-n-out!

I noted the same ammo thing when I commented on the last PCB Show. New gun Mrfs: I noticed a lot of Turkisk imports with unfamiliar Importer Names. Many are rebranded clones while others are "similar" and of unknown: quality is always a question. Turkey had major war expenditures a few months ago and probably needs some cash and U.S - Turkey trade is wide open (we imported 12.6B) as long as they leave the Kurds alone or the press is controlled.

Turkish made 1911's are supposedly as close to a WW2 Colt as you can buy new nowadays. I'd try one if I could find one. And they're cheap. Pre covid they were only like $300 new. Talk about seizing market share! When all the non phillipino manufacturers are charging twice as much, there's no competition

If you really want to see something different then travel to an out of state show! Everybody's tired old stuff that gets seen show after show is completely new to you if you've never been to that show before. I used to take treasure hunting road trips up into Alabama all the time. Never know what you might find.

I SERIOUSLY doubt an out of state show would be any different at all.
I can’t imagine it being better priced, having a better selection or smelling any better.
So I shop online. But that’s just me.

Yea, a few of us have beaten that one into the ground. Same people at the gun shows are doing it here in this forum and on every gun related selling avenue such as Armslist, etc.. greedy people trying to take advantage of the situation. Same people who will stab you in the back if they had the chance.

With as many people waiting at stores to buy ammo to flip it for X amount over store price, there is a reason they all have tons of ammo on them tables: OVERPRICED. Hopefully they get the hint and bring it back down to normal. The people who actually need it are getting screwed here, then again should have stocked up a couple years ago..2012 Obummer election should have taught that one.

Actually they are "different", or at least they were. Back before all the crazies my wife and I would take "road trips" to gunshows in Montgomery and Birmingham. We would stay overnight in Birmingham. In those days we were pretty well known on the "circuit." There's just something different about Alabama shows. Even the Mobile Shrine gunshow has a different vibe. The Mobile Fairgrounds gunshow is always a good one to attend. Robertsdale is fun to attend also.

But, until you have been to a Mississippi gun show back in the day, you haven't lived, lol. I'm talking specifically about the Biloxi show before the big hurricane. We would go to the show, then to one of the casino's for a nice buffet lunch, and if I had any change in my pocket I would drop that in the slot machines on the way out. Always a lot of fun. I miss those days.

The vibe in general was going for the hobby, sharing the common interest was my thing with me and my friends that I made in the general community of the hobby. Now it's people scalping what they can for money, greedy shit to me and that is why it pisses me off. Ruins the hobby for those in it and those wanting to get in it. It's really great when you're trying to teach a teenager how to shoot and you have the rifle but some asshole wants 4X the cost for the brick of .22lr because they made bad financial decisions in life.

Turkey has been making stuff for years, but yea the new run of things has me wondering. Rem 870 Clones and now Benelli Clones, there is one that is a copy of an Italian Semi-Auto Shotgun with a really similar gas action of the Rem 1100 around the barrel instead of under it. One of the guys in this forum bought the Turkish copy of the Benelli M4 and posted it up, looks damn near identical. They are basically chinese reverse-engineering things and I guess legally can do it since Patent is only a US thing. Many of them look the same just different name so makes me wonder if it's a company that only lasts so long due to reputation and then they come back out, re-name it something else to get people to buy.

I would like to see what the turks have in over and under shotguns, but at the moment I am interested in self defense more than bird or clay shooting.

Khyber Pass copies come to mind

I’m surprised to see the surge in Turkish firearms manufacturing.
I lived in Turkey from 1971-1973 and never saw the first gunshop.
We were allowed to bring in a shotgun but rifles were not allowed since 1968 and no handguns.
The GIs that had rifles before ‘68 sold them to their buddies when they left the country.
We used to hunt big Russian boars with slugs.
I remember one hunt we went on, one of the guys had a BAR 30/06. He got 3 that day.
One of our Turkish guides had one arm and a Win 94 that he had undoubtedly gotten from one of his American clients.
The guy was like Lucas McCain working the lever on that gun.
