Built a bridge today using track hoe pads, need two more. Have to travel thru a swampy area to get to our plots. Man was it hot out there today. Cleared some more room in my plot. Going to raise shooting house up and move back.. Filled up feeders, changed batts, cameras, feeders. Bride disked up plots for planting chufulas. Hand seeded several large plots. Love my Bride. Worked from 9am to 9pm. Caught this odd stripe in the air just before we left camp, werid huh? ** oops just added pix.

Yeah, it was crazy. I thought it was a contrail from a plane, but no. After it got darker a smaller 2nd one was to the left of it. No pic of the 2nd one. Thus is another pix.

What is a chufula? I tried doing a web search and couldn't find a plant or anything edible related to the name. What is the lore of them in terms of attracting deer and turkey?

Chufa is a nut that grows like nutgrass. We planted quite a bit for turkey in my past hunting clubs. The last club I was in we planted 200 lbs all over the lease and was discouraged when the coons and hogs ate them up before the turkeys had a chance. Sad part in our neck of the woods is no one hunts coons anymore and the hogs have taken over so chufa became too expensive to plant for not a good return. Before the problem it was always exciting to ride around and check patches to do an inventory of how many gobblers were in the area.

Those coons cause problems where ever they happened to land,

in the city they destroy your property and turn over the trash cans , there’s no telling how many houses they mess up , they move in to your attic or garage and turn them into a big mess that cost thousands to clean up and repair.

in the country they contaminate live stock feed and kill you chickens as well as eating the corn from the deer feeders.

they are nonproductive parasites with out any redeeming qualities.

Luckly, no hogs yet out there yet. ( none seen while working, hunting or on cam) We border the river so I'm afraid that someday it will happen.

Hey James. If your wife can't get club members to help,i'd be happy to come over to help your wife at the club.
In return,I would ask that you get your ass back out to sea to keep me and Frank infused with social security money.
    Thanks --- SAWMAN
