not sure if your guys feel the same way. I feel that reloading ammo for semi-auto is a chore while reloading for revolver/bolt action is a hobby. I use a Dillon 1050 w/ case and bullet feeder for semi-auto and a single stage for revolver/BA. I guess that's the difference between reloading and hand loading....

Yet we can both agree that reloading for a semi-automatic is going to be intrinsically more accurate than reloading for a revolver!

But reloading for a bolt action with fire formed cases is an artform dedicated to accuracy, and skill that may be otherwise forgotten with ball powders that flow so well?

Currently on hand or had over the years?

    Only three or four atm.

There are many more, just the revolvers that currently reside within the small arms locker if you don't mind? Posting Gunporn seems to make the other members happy! JMHO.

I'm hoping that SJ1 was alluding to the fact that if you have a revolver that is Older than You, your still youthful? (LOL)

Out of 43 weapons, I've got 9 handguns of which 3 are revolvers and only one is older than me.

    1933 Tula M1895 Nagant in 7.62x38R
1973 or 74 JP Sauer & Sohn Western Marshall in 44 Magnum
1979 Armi San Marco Colt 1851 Navy in 36 Cal

So I don't know if that makes me old or just behind in the revolver collecting world.

H&R 22LR Sidekick that my Granny got in 1962 and I inherited but it’s not older than me
Edit: Three more revolvers to go with it

I've got 4. None of them were purchased new. 2 from my dad and 2 that seemed to be a good deal. I've only shot one of them and it was not good. I'll blame the gun. I'd need buckshot in it to hit anything.

Practice, practice, practice. Also if you reload, cut the bullet in half and seat. 2 projectiles for one pull. It works.

I'm headed down that road. Have always liked 'em. Currently have two .44's, traded my .357 for a rifle, and am considering selling a couple of .30-06 rifles to finance another revolver or two; keeping the .45-70s. Yeah, I guess I'm there.

Revolvers "were" Classic Iron. Today we have poly crap creeping in just like it started with pistols in the 80s. I was never a fan of cyclinders that held more then six, five works for some task specific models. Days were when almost everyone started with a revolver and learned DA/SA triggers and they were much better triggers before they got lawyer proof. Folks also learned the value of shot placement with limited capacity, reloads and Indexing loose rounds. There may well be a "Burst Mentality" since the proliferation of wondernines which will never be admitted but often seen (LE too), rides in the same seat as missing faster.

Revolvers were or should be the mainstay of home defense handguns for non gun folks that aren't going to put a lot of time and practice into operating proficiency for all those under the Roof who may need to use it.
Some people just disregard revolvers (and 1911s) due to capacity, yet thousands of similar capacity semi-auto pistols are bought every year.

The number of revolvers is a variable but the basis may be wisdom not age.

wildrider666 I must admit that I'm surprised that you chose to opine. Especially since you have taken the stance that it sucks to be Me!
While I agree in principal with most of your post, Revolvers in a House that has Children can no longer be a mainstay. Any of the Wondernines or 1911's that require a slide to be racked prior to firing or safeties to be negotiated are Today's normal.
Yep, got one of those fancy key locks on the New S&W Combat .44 Magnum Revolver, hate it.

It is not so much an exact number...it is when you fondly remember the revolvers you had and enjoyed in your younger years and a former marriage. You then join GCGF and post a WTB and list S&W models 14, 17, 18, 66, 67. Via other members selling or trading you can now relive your glory days...you are now old!

Another revo I miss is a S&W 625 chambered in 45LC. Killed a nice bear with it in Maine and doe with it the first time I was drawn for a tag. She weighed 195 dressed (no guts and heart lung removed). One shot with a 335gr WFNGC (hardcast). She went 40yds stumbling thru a foot of fresh snow.
Got a Ruger New Model Blackhawk chambered in 45LC,shoots good, but doesn't point the same and being a single action only more felt recoil and bbl whip. ---- SAWMAN

The revolver that is Older than me is a break top Ivers Johnson in .38 Caliber S&W, not S&W .38 Special. ( the larger cartridges in the photo.)
