Anybody else have a Henry 22LR lever action and can’t hit the side of a barn with it? Just acquired this one and didn’t want to scope it. Shot it about 35 times yesterday with just iron sights and couldn’t hit my target. I’ve got another one just like it and can hit steel target consistently at 125 yards with just iron sights, this one I could not hit target but 1 time which was luck at 50 yards, wasn’t shooting at paper target just a steel plate. So tonight I’m digging around in some of my stuff and find a set of 22 rings and put a new el cheapo scope on it that came with a new rifle purchase a few years ago. Will sight the scope in on paper one evening this week and report back on the issue. Don’t know how old this Henry is but looks like it’s been around the world, picture makes it look better than it is, lol

My grandkids will love the scope, been trying to teach them to use iron sights but it’s been a learning curve for them so far. But they are pretty good shots using scoped rifles. Ages 6 and 9, both girls. Never too young to learn the responsibility and safety of using a firearm.

i have one just like it and it shoots as straight and iron sights are on. It will throw one every once in a while ..when not using quality ammo.

Have A Henry golden boy 22 octagon barrel new in the box. Bought it for my daughter when she was born in 2019. Haven’t shot it. Torn now between shooting and testing it or wait and scope it later. Was really hoping it would be a good iron sighting rimfire.

My sad story with a Henry is I didn't check the bore on a Golden Boy because I was so impressed with its outward appearance. I came to learn after purchase the prior owner had used an over-sized metal jag to clean the bore and scored the rifling. It may seem obvious. Did you check to make sure your iron sights are not moving around on you? It doesn't take much. I would call Henry and talk to their Tech Support. Tell them how disappointed you are with the purchase. I think your original plan to teach the girls how to use iron sights is a good one. I would stick to it.

My first Henry had the same problem. It was key-holing the rounds on the target due to a bad crown. I called Henry and Anthony Imperato (the owner) answered the phone. I explained to him my problem and he asked my for my address and phone number. He apologized for the problem and sent me a return label for the gun prepaid. I packaged it up and put on UPS, about a week later I got my gun back with a new barrel in a new box. They even changed the receiver cover because mine had a scratch on it. Excellent customer service and now the gun is a tack driver.

I bought this gun used, no telling how many previous owners it’s been through, I’m going to clean the barrel this afternoon and see how it shoots then.
I don't think it will matter that you're not the original owner to Henry. They don't want any customer dissatisfied with their product. The president is very involved in the business like 16gauge said. I've had a similar experience with Henry. I'm pretty sure they will make it right. You've nothing to loose by calling.

I should have mentioned that my gun was used, a wife bought it for her husband thinking was a 30-30 because of the lever action. He had shown her a 30-30 that he wanted and she thought all lever actions were 30-30 caliber. Just like BluesBrother said Henry is all about customer satisfaction.

I lost the front sight hood off my Henry due to my own fault. Their CS is top notch! One phone call and I had a new hood, new catalog a patch and a sticker in a week with a letter thanking me for buying their product! No charge!:) Try that with a Taurus!

I have that problem with an extar exp pistol i took on a trade. Noticed a little rust in the muzzle. Ran a few patches down the barrel. Went to shoot it and didnt notice that the chamber also was rusty. Needless to say that after cleaning my shorts and beating the case out of the chamber, i havent touched that pistol!

Well this Henry is a keeper even though the iron sights are evidently off. Got off work and sighted in at 30 yards, last 3 shots were so tight it was cutting edge of the previous hole, put 5 rounds in then pinged the 100 yard target 5 out of 5 shots. Scope will stay on for now but may send it back to Henry later on to see about the iron sights, they look fine to me. No problem hitting long range steel targets with iron sights on the other Henry I have

Glad you got it figured out. Was gonna mention Henry did a big run of smooth bores during the pandemic and thought it could be one of those.
