    I’m ahead of you on this one. I use pocket sized little notebooks and record the serial number and history of heirloom type things.

    Good deal, a lot of people just pass down oral history which becomes either more elaborate or lacking in details.

    My family is lucky, they did up a family book that lists the families back to the 1500s or so, plus all the family stories and such in it.

    Some of BP sites have people who can identify a guns maker by the style or scroll work etc on it.
