Gun Protesters Plan March On Washington With Loaded Rifles To ‘Put The Government On Notice’

Almost 900 people are RSVPed for a July 4th march on Washington, D.C. where protesters plan to carry loaded rifles. In D.C., openly carrying guns is against the law. But the organizer of the event, libertarian radio host Adam Kokesh, says the march is an act of “civil disobedience” that attempts to prove gun advocates’ point in the “SUBTLEST way possible.”

The event’s Facebook invitation describes the march as a nonviolent demonstration, “unless the government chooses to make it violent”:

Personally, I think this is a bad idea. They are planning on deliberately breaking the law and forcing the government's hand. One firecracker could go off and this will turn into a massacre. I understand they are standing up for what they believe in (as we all do), but if this goes wrong the gun grabbers will use it against us and we will have no recourse.

    What are your thoughts?

Most definitely a bad idea. Doing something against the law or even showing aggression with the use of guns does not help their or our case in the least.

I listened to the event planners show the other day and he stated it would be unloaded. I've seen a few website saying its supposed to be with loaded weapons but he stated" I will personally go gun to gun to make sure they are NOT loaded if I have to". Either way it can end bad but his exact words were unloaded.

Frank you have seen a bit more in life than I have, but in the past few years(8-10) this country has gone down the drain. We are taxed out the ass on everything anymore our freedom and rights have been trampled on to almost non-existence these days. I mean we went to war over tea that was only taxed at 3%. I know there were other issues also. But I honestly think we are going to see something bad happen and soon. There are too many people at their breaking points these days.

The problem here is the message. If someone asked me, I would reply "You are doing it wrong". The left will grab a hold of this and portray normal gun owners to be a bunch of psycho nuts. I have to agree with Frank on this one. @Doc, the timing isn't right for this...... yet.

No matter what us legal law-abiding gun owners do we will always be labeled(crazy) in their eyes and minds. The 80 million or so gun owners in this country comprise of over 25% of the total population. Yet no matter if a guy that is legally carrying concealed stops a madman from shooting up some place the media will always condemn us gun owners for one reason or another. Say for example if the gunman kills 2 people and then is stopped they will turn it around and say "well see a guy had a ccw and still 2 people were killed". We can do NO good in their eyes ever. I know this has beat to death over the years. I just educate people who are willing to listen. And I think that's all that we can really do for now.

A peaceful protest in Washington, OK. Breaking the law will only be ammo for the anti-gun groups.

Talk about natonial news coverage if these guys go ahead with this. It will get more coverage than Linsey Lohan. I don't know why anyone want's to stir the pot at a time like this. As people have said this will give gun owners a black eye in alot of peoples eyes. I can see the news coverage now with SWAT teames every block and all the people in hand cuffs. I know they will never get a permit for such a foolish march, So its off to jail.

They said the March would take place ONLY if they had 10,000 attendees by June 1st. So far, they have 3,218 confirmed and 2,816 maybes. Since the event is right at two months away, he potentially has the time to get to 10,000 supporters. This is from their Facebook page/invitation. If you have an account, you can read it here: https://www.facebook.com/events/252728144871259/?ref=3

For those who don't, I'll copy and paste:

    Date: Thursday, July 4, 2013
Time: 9:00am until 5:00pm in EDT

    Location: Washington, District of Columbia

On the morning of July 4, 2013, Independence Day, we will muster at the National Cemetery & at noon we will step off to march across the Memorial Bridge, down Independence Avenue, around the Capitol, the Supreme Court, & the White House, then peacefully return to Virginia across the Memorial Bridge. This is an act of civil disobedience, not a permitted event. We will march with rifles loaded & slung across our backs to put the government on notice that we will not be intimidated & cower in submission to tyranny. We are marching to mark the high water mark of government & to turn the tide. This will be a non-violent event, unless the government chooses to make it violent. Should we meet physical resistance, we will peacefully turn back, having shown that free people are not welcome in Washington, & returning with the resolve that the politicians, bureaucrats, & enforcers of the federal government will not be welcome in the land of the free.

If there are any active duty military who would like to honor their oath to the Constitution by providing us with an armed escort to prevent the criminals in DC from stopping this march, please contact: adam@adamvstheman.com.

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty. - Thomas Jefferson
Does the government fear the people? If not, something is wrong, and we aim to change it.

There's a remote chance that there will be violence as there has been from government before, and I think it should be clear that if anyone involved in this event is approached respectfully by agents of the state, they will submit to arrest without resisting. We are truly saying in the SUBTLEST way possible that we would rather die on our feet than live on our knees.

You are welcome to attend unarmed as a supporter, or armed with a recording device. We especially invite law enforcement officers to stand with us armed however they feel is appropriate. If any law enforcement officers would like to volunteer in any way, please email adam@adamvstheman.com

If this page gets to 10,000 attendees by June 1st, & we have the critical mass necessary to pull this off, (1,000 actual attendees) we will march. Please spread the word, share this event, & invite all your friends.

UPDATE 130506 Now that it's undeniable that this is going to happen, allow me to make clear how. There will be coordination with DC law enforcement prior to the event. I will recommend that they do the best they can to honor their oaths and escort us on our route. Failing to provide that commitment to safety, we will either be informed that we will only be allowed up to a certain point where we would be arrested. If this is the case, we will approach that point as a group and if necessary, I will proceed to volunteer myself to determine what their actual course of action with someone crossing the line will be at which point fellow marchers will have the choice of joining me one at a time in a peaceful, orderly manner, or turning back to the National Cemetery.

Some members on there are telling him this is not a good idea, and others are warning of possible instigators stirring up trouble. One guy has already sent several 'tweets' to Piers Morgan to antagonize him.

Apparently, this guy has been protesting something all of his life... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Kokesh

Okay We have a by name list of people who are conspiring to commit firearm violations in Wash, DC. They are going to trap themselves on the one or both bridges. Easy arrest processing! Dumbass idea on all points. Might as well call it 10,000 Suckers March: arrested, weapons confiscated (and per the law Forfited) and will loose their right to poses firearms for life. Are we sure this is not a gun grabbers idea?
