Five dead in Santa Monica shooting rampage

The attack began at a house and ended on a college campus where police say they shot the gunman in the library.

Police initially put the death toll at six, but later revised it to five people dead, including the shooter.

The gunman was in his late 20s and had been carrying an assault-style rifle, say witnesses.

Hear gunshots and then walk outside on your porch unarmed....Brilliant! To bad she didn't have a double barrel 12 gauge to fire off a couple of rounds indiscriminately into the air and the whole thing could have been over right there according to Uncle Joe.

Logical thinking is not something many Californians seem to excel at. As already mentioned we once again have a mass shooter in a strictly controlled Gun Free zone. These poor misguided folks made the wrong assumption that evil would never find them and if it did their government would protect them. One man or women with a CCW or better yet rifle in the car and this ends with fewer deaths. Notice the description of how the murderer just stood in the open casually choosing targets. Dude had no fear and knew he was in a gun free zone. If a citizen would have done the morally correct thing and dropped this guy before he could kill another innocent they would be facing a litany of criminal charges in the socialist state of California.

Just saw on FOX: the murderer had a bag that contained a crap load of loaded mags, a replacement AR upper (?) and loaded black powder revolver and knee pads were also shown. PD said he also was wearing a "vest". No clarification if it was load-bearing or ballistic. I missed what he carried into the college.

I saw last night where the sheriff said the vest was just a black utility vest and specifically said that it was not load bearing, then explained what that was.

On ABC News this evening the punk giving the news mentioned multiple times the 2 gun "arsenal" the guy had and his "astounding" 1600 rounds of ammo.

"A little before noon my son left the house and then almost immediately I heard gun shots and I ran out because I feared for him," Jerry said. "Luckily he was gone. There was a guy outside right in front of my place with full SWAT gear, a belt full of ammunition and a semi-automatic rifle. The first six shots he had fired inside the house or at this house across the street and it was on fire. The first thing I noticed was smoke coming from across the street. He had a bag lying in the street. He glanced up at me. He walked over here to this corner, this intersection. He pointed a gun at a woman in car and told her to pull over, which she did. The woman behind her in a car, he waved her through with a gun, she kind of hesitated and slowed down. He fired three or four shots point blank into her in the car. The car ended up in my driveway. I ran inside to get the phone to call 911. When I came back outside he was getting into the blue car with the first woman. He had thrown a bunch of stuff out the car. They were driving off. We just got towels to put pressure on this woman’s wounds. She is going to be okay. She was talking."
she recognized the shooter as the son of the man who lives in the house.
they were a Lebanese family / a father with two sons who lived at 2036 Yorkshire Ave, Santa Monica. Owned by Samir S. Zawahri. Christopher Samir Zawahri born 8/06/1987 and John Samir Zawahri born 06/08/1989. Both sons were born in Los Angeles County.
