cool drone. Are there pictures of small objects? Are the pictures real time or do they need to be down loaded after the flight?

How small of an object do you mean? You watch the flight in real time on the monitor and the pictures and videos taken are saved to a micro SD card on the drone. DJI_0074a.jpg

Would probably be cheaper to buy a burner phone and connect with facetime. Just set burner phone camera facing target...or borrow your girls phone

Well I'm trying to justify buying a new toy through multiple use. Besides just a flying toy, could it also be useful as a spotting scope at 300 or 500 yds.

No problem doing that as long as you don’t shoot it. DJI are the best and will stay where you leave it.

My idea is to fly it out to the target between shots, to check the hits. Then return it to the shooting line when firing the next shot. On a good day you need a minimum of a $300 level spotting scope to see 556 holes in a paper target. If it's cloudy or the sun angle is wrong you can forget seeing the hits on paper. I don't know if the camera would pickup the holes while in a hover at 5-6 feet.

Are you considering having it hover while actively shooting? There is a collision avoidance system that may need to be turned off. It could not identify the caliber but if there was enough contrast it could show the hole.

No just fly it to the target and back to the line between shots.
