I had a Wounded Warrior hunt with me last PM. He is somewhat ambulatory and shoots a crossbow. I put a small tent blind out over a nice pile of peanuts three days ago and got some pics of a damn crowd of does scarfin' them up.
Last night Dan got into the blind at 1630 and at 1950 he called me and said that he had stuck a nice doe. He stated that he heard her crash into a blackberry thicket on the edge of the juniper swamp. I was about 20 minutes away and had told him that if any arrowed deer leaves the plot to stay in the blind and sit very quietly until I got there.
When I arrived he told me in what direction she ran and we headed out with him in front and me behind him. He had reloaded another bolt into his crossbow. He found the deer exactly where he had heard her and we had her back at my truck(75yds away)before dark.
Less than 45 minutes later she was at the meat processor(Oak's in Chumuckla). She weighed 95lbs and the peanuts had helped to put a nice layer of fat on her.
Just a congrats to the WW. He is a Air Force PJ that was wounded some years ago. We go waaaaay back and he is always a pleasure to be with. He still jumps out of perfectly good A/C to this day(with the help of a buddy). He likes to say,"I will live 'til I die.".
He reminds me of pigman(Steve). He has one of the most positive attitudes of anyone that I have ever known. --- SAWMAN
