I made a hoist one time with a winch just because I had broken some ribs and couldn’t load a deer at the time. But, let me post a couple of pics of my new set up I built about mid day today, heading out to the woods in a little bit and too dark to take pics right now, you and others will absolutely love what I built to load deer up, don’t mind anybody copying it one bit, will check back in with pics around lunch todayHitch mount hoist, anybody used one. Got to get something can't pull or pickup deer anymore.
Interested and following this thread.A buddy of mine bought this one last year and is pleased. We bagged one each during last year's season and the winch worked well. Now, if your shoulders are blown I don't think any of these mid priced winchs will work. You'd need to go for a more expensive one with a better and easier crank mechanism. Good deal, I use my hitch haul with a sled for a lot of things so I do not have to lift into my truck bed, a ratchet strap or 2 and it is very secure..also helps when the bed is full to add more carrying capacityOk here we go, first of all if you don’t have a Jet Sled you don’t know what you’re missing, been using a sled now for maybe 4 seasons, best thing ever. I’ve used carts in the past that I built but the Jet Sled slides and glides easily through the woods, over logs, float your deer across a beaver pond or creek. I also use mine to carry corn to feeders in the woods. I’m currently hunting off of an Isuzu Trooper with 5 speed manual as I prefer SUV’s over trucks since I haul so much hunting gear and can keep stuff locked up and secure and since it’s my dedicated hunting vehicle I leave stuff in it year round, I’m not bashing the truck owners as I have two trucks myself, years ago I tried hunting off my Jeep TJ, then I progressed to a Ford Bronco, loved it and the hauling capacity for my gear, but rough on fuel. So now I’m hooked on SUV’s and next hunting vehicle I get is a Suzuki Samurai, really neat and I did a lot of mods to it but in cold weather the heater sucked, next I get a 4 door Suzuki Sidekick, one of the best vehicles to hunt off of, had been looking for a little more room though and finally found a Trooper and I’ve used it for 3 years now. When I truck hunted I built a heavy duty hoist that I made to pivot to aid in loading deer when I had broken some ribs and a hoist is very very handy to have. But, what I’m fixing to show you is how I load my deer, and I can load my deer and be gone quicker than anybody so easily you would not believe it. I built a rack out of pipe cause that’s what I had in the scrap pile, I built the rack to accommodate the Jet Sled, on one end of the rack I made a tail gate, once I’ve loaded my deer on the sled, I pull it up on the rack easy peasy and close the gate and run a strap across and I’m gone. The sled is ideal for hauling the carcass off, it’s ideal to keep blood out of the back of your truck too. This is my method and at 61 years old I can load a deer and be gone with it so fast it’ll make you dizzy. Forgot to mention, I used 2 turnbuckles on my rack to stop any wobble in it at the receiver hitch.
yeah that is all you need for small young deerSure beats breaking your back trying to stuff one in the truck. I use the hitch basket too. View attachment 199836
Hitch mount hoist, anybody used one. Got to get something can't pull or pickup deer
Good morning, I have recently lost my hunting property, and have a Viking Solutions L-E-vator Game Loader, for sale. I purchased it on Amazon. I used it 3 or 4 times to put 50 lb bags of corn in my truck. My shoulders are not what they used to be, so it is much easier to lift things. I have put 300 lbs of corn on it, and it worked very well.Hitch mount hoist, anybody used one. Got to get something can't pull or pickup deer anymore.
That Jet Sled looks awesome, I can think of many uses for it. Looks like I could easily pull it with my ATV, especially in MS where the ground is usually wet during hunting season! What size did you get, the 54" or 66" long one?Couple of deer pics in my sled from years past, best $50 I ever spent, get you one !
