I know that some of you young guys think that once you retire it's all fun and games, but there's decisions to be made everyday. today for instance after much deliberation I decided today squirrel hunt would have a western theme...

Nice choices! I still go to my old S&W model 17-2 with 5"bbl or 10/22. If I'm feeling space age, Airweight 317 with 3"bbl... the aluminum aloy joy! Mad respect to the lever gun tho.

Once you get outside of the Ohio Valley it's all frontier or Western. So since you ain't barking that squirrel with a .32 muzzle loader, perhaps your idea of a youngster and mine may be a bit different??????????? LOL.
The first 100 years are the hardest. LOL.

I like your thinking there G-Rat, I pair my 317 with a buckmark rifle lightweight Barrel, and my model 18 plays well with this old Remington. The hunt is not always about The Kill, just being out in the woods sitting down by an old oak tree, if there's nothing stirring in the woods you can always just sat there and admire the classic firearms you brought along

Dang younguns will never know how hard the choices can be. I went for a motorcycle ride again today, 4th day in a row. I had to ride twice yesterday! It was windy crossing those bay bridges.

I'm not all that old yet but some of these kids don't believe me when I tell them the Mossberg 500 came free with the sewing machine my wife bought in 1977. Sewing machine crapped out long ago but the Mossberg still looks like new.

I hope when I get to this point that I'm alert enough, and have the money to do it.
I doubt it was intended that away but damn that sounds depressing. Just to show that there's hope for life in retirement I thought I'd post an update. Back after the tree rats again this morning enjoyed roughly a mile hike through the woods( without getting lost or sorling my pants) collected these two and yes my eyes are still good enough to take headshots with open sights.( as long as the sun's out) could have taken more but 2 was all I need for gravy and cathead biscuits this morning.

    Nice shooting.

I'm sad to say that I lost both of my dogs last year Jake the Jack Russell from old age and Bonnie the Bulldog from a rattlesnake bite

Alzhiemers has been linked to the anti cholesterol meds. Those meds melt cholesterol, and your body has two types, and your brain is almost 100% made of the good kind of cholesterol. Well unfortunately the anti cholesterol meds can't distinguish between good and bad cholesterol... so people end up giving themselves alzhiemers instead of a heart attack. Eat more salad and fish and olive oil. As far as the motorcycles, I'm firmly "over the hill" and just got back from my longest ride ever. Over 1,200 miles in 2.5 days. I found myself with a scheduled 4 days off in a row and I went to visit family a way south of Fort Myers for Thanksgiving... then I got called in to work... Never slow down, never grow old
