My wife and I have been watching a series on PBS about the history of country music and thoroughly enjoying it.
We watched it from 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm this past Thursday. Not sure if it’s on other nights too.
I believe the guide just says “Country Music”.
I think they are up to segment 7, late ‘70s thru early ‘80s.
    It’s very well done.

Same here. We’ve watched several episodes and the wife has all recorded except the first episode. I’m not big on watching tv, but I can’t remember watching a documentary that was more interesting or informative.

STRICKLY older country for me. Typically pre 1980 or so.,George,Tanya,Hank (father and son),Willie,Merl,Roy,etc, etc.
This to me is REAL COUNTRY. The way it is supposed to be. 85% of my listening is Willie's Roadhouse on Sirius. Even took my radio antenna off my truck. Nothing worth listening to on FM IMO. --- SAWMAN

If this is the documentary by Ken Burns it is outstanding!

I believe that’s it. It’s probably a few years old because they had commentary from a few artists that are no longer with us.
One thing that struck me was how hard a lot of the artists had it growing up, especially those in the early years. I mean dirt poor.

I liked the attention given to artists, mostly writers, that few people know about. And the musicians, engineers, and behind the scenes people. I think it was this programs that shined a light on the A.P. Carter family, the Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, and people like Townes Van Zandt.

There is an early classic country music station in south Alabama. WXBQ - FM on 96.9. They call themselves "The Legend." Their tower is around Bonifay. I can't get their signal in Pensacola, but I can start picking them up between Milton and Crestview. I've heard listeners call in from north central Florida, Tallahassee and Lake City. Not quite Sirius, but it's free.

I used to always listen to that station when I was up there hunting. Really good music.

Hank Cochran was the other co-writer of “I Fall to Pieces”.
He was a friend of my uncle’s.
I spent a day with him on my uncle’s boat back in the ‘80s.
I was in awe being around such a famous song writer. He had a bunch of them.

Hank Lochlin ("Send Me the Pillow That You Dream On," etal) country music and Grand Ol' Opry star was born in McClellan, Santa Rosa County. We used to see him in Milton often. He was a real congenial old country boy. He is Buried in Jay.
