I bought a couple of cheap 18650 flashlights thinking this could be a good way to store weapon light batteries in my car and EDC bag. My thinking is that it is better than loose batteries and can be used as a flashlight. I carry a charger with me in the car and in my bag.

    Does anyone else do this?

Do you think that the batteries will drain being in the flashlights?

I would suggest what FrankT stated or keep in the original package if possible. How often do you need to change out the batteries? I assume you're these quite often?

No Circut, no power drain. However, for storage, I don't like batteries stacked on their bare terminal ends/sides especially if the batteries are a mix of mfrs, types, dates or partially "used". No different than cautions you read on the devices to be powered.

    Good info.

I will pick up a battery holder and 4 more batteries.

Anyone use the batteries that have USB ports?

The ones I have currently have are mod light and Samsung. I was matching the specs to modlite, and saw some that had a USB port built in for charging.
