Just picked this up from FFL, so full disclosure I have not yet fired it, nor have I ever owned an 870. That being said, I am completely pleased with it and expect it to be an excellent shooter.

The entire gun, minus furniture and trigger guard, is made of steel. The trigger guard is not magnetic but appears to be some kind of metal. All trigger components are steel and appear either stamped or forged. I understand Remington uses a lot of cast parts which have issues, but far as I can tell no fire control parts are MIM. Everything fits together tight but still moves fluidly. Action is about as stiff as any other new pump shotgun I've handled. The finish is smooth and even with no sharp edges I've found. Pics make it look funky, but it's just greasy from out of the box.

I've attached pics of the components on the bottom. I've seen some comments on videos and Q&A about parts compatibility. Reviews have confirmed furniture is swappable. Ive read that Rem barrels do not fit, but mag extensions will. The choke is fixed so swapping barrels will be a must if you want this for other purposes, but again, not positive until someone who isnt me confirms.

So yeah! I got mine for $200 shipped plus a bit extra for FFL. Frankly, I can't fathom spending $500 on a Remington when this exists. Definitely worth picking one up if you are on the fence, well worth the price.

I picked one of these up from Nate a few years ago. I had some Magpul 870 furniture that went right on - apparently the fore-end isn't supposed to fit the 982 but it went right on for me, just a little tight. Zero complaints, for a $200 shotgun you could do a LOT worse, in my opinion.
