Quick question for all you pro reloader’s… I’ve been using the Frankford Arsenal brass cleaning packs, which work pretty good but of course I’m out and wanted to see if there is something I can buy “over the counter” that would work. Thanks in advance!!

Before and after. Before, 6 out the 16 pieces I was given would not chamber in my rolling block. After, all 16 would chamber. Thank you B52 for your work on my 43 Spanish brass. I was given 16 pieces of brass with my only cost being postage of $8.45. I took a chance and won this time! No cracks, splits, holes, dents or gouges. 43 Spanish boxer primer brass would typically be in the $4-$5 range each IF you could find it. Jamison Brass (no longer in business) made some good brass for obsolete cartridges.

Note: From the case mouth and down about 1/10th inch it looks a little different; this is how far I size it to hold the bullet. Works the brass a lot less than full length sizing, so it should (and has so far) lasted longer.

The Original Lemi-Shine has been replace with Lemi-Shine Booster. It is a water softener and rinse agent and can be found with other dish washing items in the grocery. A little bit will do ya...I think the ratio I use in my Thumblers is 1 tablespoons of Dawn to 1/4 teaspoon Lemi Shine.

What blackhawk said, I use 2 tablespoons of Armorall car wash and wax and 1/8 tsp or 1 9mm case of lemi-shine. If washing nickel cases don't use the lemi-shine at all. Also don't mix brass and nickel cases.
I'll second this method as well. I've been using this exact method for a while with great results. I'll use a single tablespoon of Dawn soap instead of Armor-All if the brass is being cleaned of lanolin oil from the resizing process but I'll still include the 9mm casing of lemi-shine

I've been wanting to try the Armor-All but I bought the other by the case. Seems like it would keep the cases from tarnishing longer with the wax.

I find that that oxidation still tarnishes the brass to that dull look even after using armor-all. I add a step and send my brass through a light vibratory tumble of corn cob media and Nu Shine polish afterwards. That wax film it puts on keeps my brass looking great even in long term storage.

Educate me. I've always used dry media (walnut or cob) in a case vibrator with good results. What's the advantage of wet tumbling?

Did you see the before and after pictures? No dry tumbler can give those results. Also primer pockets are Cleaner than dry media can accomplish. If your a precision shooter that’s a detail you may want to be aware of. In short it’s as clean as new brass.

My brass usually starts out a lot cleaner than that 43 Spanish brass and the walnut makes it clean and shiny. Do you use a different tumbler? All I have is a generic Midway vibrator.
