Likely the person that did this burglary would have just killed the dog or dogs. Unfortunately that would put some folks (me included) in a very different mind set. Stealing my stuff could result in a severe painful beating, killing my dog would result in a less painful but more permanent solution to the persons inability to conform to a more acceptable life style.

Yep... most are good as "early warning" only... beyond that, they become sacrificial.

Your use of the word “most” is crucial.

Depends on the dog. Properly trained, accentuating natural instincts, there are some dogs that will deter, some that will detain, and some that will disembowel. Of those, some won’t be nice enough to even warn you with a bark.

I work from home and have a neighbor who is retired and two other neighbors who are stay at home moms all watching the houses on our circle with our phone numbers, also a neighborhood forum and if a car is on the circle that doesn’t belong it is BLASTED on the forum IMMEDIATELY ! We also have cameras and a dog, good luck to them !
