Thinking about building a HD gun out of an shot gun that has rolled stamping on the receiver that I just Plain don't like. Its fairly deep and I dont want to sand or file it off and compromise the receiver.

I've never used it, but a quick google search showed that in this case (http://forums.tiberiusarms.com/showpost.php?p=24976&postcount=5) it worked pretty well.

I don't beleive so sawman, though I could use some if that to lol.
From what I have seen it looks like a thicker version of duracoat. Mainly I just want to fill the right side engravings, I think the Left will get covered by a shell holder.

I have no expierance with what you are trying to accomplish. I would think that it would be somewhat difficult to finish up with an even coat that blended well. Is it a possibility to leave the weapon as is and say that it "has character" ??

I have used this to fill small pits in metal that I wanted to be durable:

As with any filler clean, clean, clean. I've never used it on a firearm. It's supposed to take heat. If I was doing it I would bead blast around the engraving first.

As a body man with 30 yrs experience I can tell you all about it. None of these fillers have structural strength so NEVER use them as a replacement for welding. On the other hand when they are used for cosmetic repairs they are perfect. The ones with resin and hardener are what you want, and for that you can use products like j-b weld, or all metal nowadays there are lots of good chemicals to fit the bill.and yes you will have to sand and reapply a few times for the perfect finish.but it's not rocket science.
