So a buddy and I built some parts kits 10 years ago. He used some kind of off brand rail and I can't match a red dot mount to it. Can anybody identify this rail?

They should all fit I have several different rail styles amongst all of my AKs and I haven't had an issue swapping rails and optics back and forth. I would suggest inspecting your rail closely for any burrs or jagged areas maybe use a file to remove any defects and retry fitting a rail

I still have one Romanian kit left. Came from the Romanian Guard. You can help me assemble it ;)

Also, I have a UTG rail that will not fit this rail if you need a mount. That's why I made this post.

Back before Obama got elected, me and a buddy of mine bought 10 kits. I put up the money to buy them and he bought all the jigs and rivet press to build the flats. We did it right. Sand blasted them down, heat treated the flats in a kiln. spot welded the feed ramps. He moved out of state with all the equipment before I finished this last kit. I don't have the equipment anymore, nor do I know if you can buy a bent receiver these days and just drill it. So much changed since back then.
