I bought one. And should have bought a few AK47 bayonets as well. Looked at other types of rifles too.

    Have you ever fired yours?

Prior to the original posting no, but since then yes.

A friend of mine (Since deceased) did up a couple reduce load (Anemic) shells for me, just so I could see her belch smoke. Pucker factor was in full force, obviously she didn't blow up in my face. It was a rush when she went off that's for sure.

She doesn't have much rifling left, what little is there looks like scratches. So she wasn't very accurate, all I can say is the lead I slung went somewhere in the downrange direction.

Would love to see pictures of yours also.

Originally got hooked on WWI and later weapons. But now I'm enjoying adding even older weapons to my ever growing collection.

    Like my:

    1863 P1853 Snider Enfield
    1879 M69/71 Swiss Vetterli
    1890 Danzig Gew 88
    1893/4 M1893 Spanish Mauser

And if I get this Egyptian Rolling Block

    1874 Remington No 1 M1868 Rolling Block

Would also love to add a Martini-Henry rifle, M1861 Springfield, Muzzleloader P1853 Enfield, Carcano M1891, plus a few other pre 1900 weapons to the stables.

Yeah the Egyptian rifle has been ridden hard, but like the Afghanistan Snider it has a story to tell.

So yours is a P1853 Muzzleloader versus a P1853 Snider-Enfield. Wow that is cool, I like that. Is it a two or three band rifle?

Yours has a 1863 dated lockplate like mine. I know on the Snider-Enfields the barrels are dated on the bottom, what I don't know is if the barrels on the MZs like yours are dated.

Cool so now we have pics of two Afghan bring-backs.

We need to see if we can get a separate area for bring-backs.

    Thanks for posting yours.....

Mine just sits around, it’s a cool piece but not sure how much I love it. Of course may be a cool heirloom to give to my son one day with a cool story.

I didn’t look at the bands. I do have a matching triangle bayonet and bayonet cover.

With it still being a Muzzleloader, to the right person I wouldn't be surprised if it could go for $500.00 minimum. I would watch gunbroker and watch what they are going for, also look at some of the online gun dealers. You can get an ideal of what they sold theirs for. The hoard that came out of Nepal, that were in far worse shape, were going for that $500.00 or so thru IMA, and they were getting what they were asking.

Here's a chewed up one listed as a parts gun, $395.00.

Here's a complete one, in worse shape than ours, $495.00.

A lot also depends on whether it's a 3 band or 2 band rifle. 2 band rifles seem to be more popular with some Civil War reenactors.

I would watch and see what it sells for, if it sells. There is a way if you're a member, or there was a way, you could see completed auctions. That would allow you see what similar rifles sold for.

The issue keeping the Afghanistan bring-backs from commanding a similar price, is collectors view them as a "Bitsa Gun" Or weapons rebuilt over time with bits from here and there. But maybe prices will change.

Russian Captured K98k Mausers are hitting around $500.00 now and people use to snub them at $150.00.

When nothing else is available, prices seem to climb high quick.
